Quick Update

I know, the suspense is TOTALLY KILLING you... You're waiting anxiously for all those awesome Denver posts and pictures. I'm working on it. I'll get it up soon, but before I post that I needed to do a quick and random update. Instead of blogging I have been doing this (plus a bunch of other things of course):

Buying and hanging curtains and decorating my kitchen (finally)

Sewing some aprons for a Mother's Day boutique

Chasing these weirdos (and feeding them, and making sure they don't look like orphan children all the time)

And playing with my sweet and sassy Adele. Oh, and by the way, THE TRIBE has spoken and I have been voted off the island. Actually, I decided that we all needed a break from the potty training. We haven't given up. Oh, no. But I DID need a respite from washing 8 pair of underpants a day, and all the accompanying puddles. We'll have to do "round 2" in a few weeks.

Science Fair

Emilia participated in the science fair a couple of weeks ago. Her entry won 2nd place at her school and so she qualified for district. She went to district and proudly represented her school.

We had some fun growing some yeast and funky mold (but hey, what fun is a science project without growing funky fungi?). We even baked bread with our home-grown, natural yeast. If we ever run out of yeast and are more than 5 days away from the grocery store, WATCH OUT because WE know what to do.

Yummy science project!

Denver Trip Part 1

I have a LOT of photos and stories from my trip to Denver. For those who don't know, I went to Denver last weekend to attend my friend Kari's wedding. We have been friends since we were 6. I am so excited for her and her new hubby Trevor. Anyway, like I said, I have a LOT of photos so I think I am going to do this kind of like a mini-series. That way you can skip over the details that probably aren't important to you and read the funny stuff. And there is definitely some funny stuff.

Here are a few teasers:

Awesome, stylin' headband/mini-tophat all in one.

Gotta love the litter at the Denver Zoo. At least it is environmentally sustainable and made entirely from plants...

And you're going to have to wait and see about this one. Let's just call it "Soviet Hair" for now.

Love and Whales

No, this has nothing to do with Freeing Willy or anything like that.

Elise said something very funny today:
"Mom, I love you so. I love you 800 thousand 8 billion 99 times more than a whale."

Now THAT my friends is TRUE love. (Do you think this happens every day?)

I AM Outlaaaaasting. I am.

Here we have the bribes, I mean positive reinforcement:

During Adele's naptime she:

  • Used the purple Luvs box as a stool and turned on the light
  • Scattered clothing an pajamas all over her room
  • Stripped
  • Put on her Little Mermaid swimsuit
  • Pooped all over her Little Mermaid swimsuit
  • Put a bracelet on her ankle
  • Sucked on the antenna of the remote control car
  • Fell asleep

I opened the door and this is exactly what I saw.

It appears that the positive reinforcement is not working.
