Singing

Kent has suddenly become very involved in singing in the community.  We have some very talented singers in our ward and he was first invited to sing with the "Red Rock Singers".  Shortly after that he was invited by some members of that group to be in an a capella group called Half Step.  Red Rock singers have sung in several concerts in town, and Half Step sang at the county fair in August and they had a special Christmas concert.  It makes me happy that Kent has found a couple of fun groups to sing with.  It's a lot of work but it is good for him to be able to share his talent.

Final Grades

I survived my first semester back in college!  And I have to say I did pretty well.  So close to a 4.0.  My chem lab final was a killer and brought my grade down to an A-.  Still though, I think these grades are pretty great and will help me get into the nursing program.  I was always so afraid to take chemistry and look!  I survived and got an A!  I am getting my application ready now and hope to turn it in after the Christmas break!  I will know sometime in March if I get in.

Raquetball

I took the kids to play racquetball for the first time during Christmas break.  We had a lot of fun, and just a few injuries.  I probably got the worst injury:  Ian slammed the ball into my leg and I had a great big bruise for about a week.

Photos with Santa

We went to the Frontier Homestead to listen to Kent and his group Half Step sing and got to check out all the fun Christmas activities there.  The highlight of course (besides the free hot chocolate and cookies was seeing Santa.

Wow. That beard looks so real...

Decorating the Tree

These kids were being SO crazy!  They were joking around and being so silly, at one point Elise collapsed on the couch because she was laughing so hard.  And then later when I went through the pictures I noticed that Kent had been taking strategic pictures of my backside.

Look at these big kids!  They are all so grown up!

College Fun and Microbes

Dare I say fun?  There are a lot of things about being back in school that are not fun.  Like tests, homework and GROUP PROJECTS.  (GAG).  Here is an agar plate with some lovely colonies of bacteria on it.  These were swabbed in the restrooms just down the hall from our microbiology lab.  We are doing a group project to test whether men's or women's restrooms are more germy.  (They are both equally disgusting, in case you wondered what the outcome was.)  Anyway, I hate group projects.  This last week of school is crazy and really not a great time to have to do group projects.  I am sure one of my lab partners would agree. His wife had a baby yesterday.
